Tension Release Massage™
A course programme for professionals in the beauty and health space — massage therapists, cosmetologists, osteopaths and medical practitioners looking to add a rigorous, result-driven facial technique to their practice.
Two techniques that work together as one integrated method — Tension Release Sculpting.
Tension Release Massage™ is a professional facial technique sometimes searched for as buccal massage, sculptural face lift massage, intraoral facial massage, or TMJ release massage. It combines two techniques — external sculpting and intraoral (buccal) work — into one certified method.
External technique is the foundation of the treatment: precise, hands-on manipulation across the entire face, working systematically through every group of expression and chewing muscles, and extending down through the neck and décolletage. Nothing is left untouched.
Intraoral technique is where the method goes deeper, literally. This is the buccal massage portion of the treatment Working from inside the mouth, you address the muscles of expression and mastication along their full length, from one attachment point to the other — reaching what external work alone cannot. This is what releases chronic muscular tension at its source, and it carries a secondary benefit: supporting healthier movement and alignment of the facial bones and cranial structure.
Together these two techniques form Tension Release Massage™ — and completing this course is the path to becoming a certified Tension Release Massage™ practitioner.
Alexandra Lind
I created Tension Release Massage™, and I have spent several years giving it to my own clients. It is my favourite treatment to perform — the results are that good, and you are genuinely helping people who live with pain in the jaw and head.
It is ideal for clients who suffer from jaw tension, TMJ, teeth grinding, migraines, tension headaches and a puffy face. The technique brings deep relaxation and circulation to the muscles of the face and works with lymphatic drainage, leaving the face more toned. We carry and store emotions and trauma in the face, so it also lets the receiver let go, feel lighter and more relaxed — a holistic alternative to today's more invasive options.
You will work externally, intraorally and on the facial bones, addressing muscle origins and attachments at the same time so tense muscles can release. Elasticity increases, the heavy forehead and eye area lift, and the complexion brightens with the circulation.
My one piece of advice: the more you practise on people before your examination, the more confident you become — and that confidence passes straight on to the client.

How you become certified
Who is this course for?
Professionals in the beauty and health space — massage therapists, cosmetologists, osteopaths and medical practitioners adding a rigorous, result-driven facial technique to their practice.
Do I need a professional license to take this course?
Yes. Because the external massage and the intraoral technique works from inside the mouth, this course is only open to people with an existing professional foundation in massage therapy, cosmetology, osteopathy, or medical practice. It is not designed for complete beginners to hands-on facial or bodywork. If you're unsure whether your background qualifies, mention it when you apply and Alexandra will confirm before your place is reserved.
How is the online certification earned?
You pass a quiz after each segment, practise on as many people as you need, then book a live online session where you film yourself performing the full treatment and are assessed by Alexandra herself.
How long do I have with the online course?
One year from the purchase date — go back to any segment in your own time until the technique is yours.
How much does the course cost?
Pricing depends on what course you choose, the format and your professional background, so it isn't listed publicly — once you apply, Alexandra reviews your background and confirms pricing and next steps directly with you.
What does the in-person seminar cover?
Two hands-on training days in a group setting, with a one-hour lunch break each day at your own expense to absorb and practise what you have just learned.
Can Alexandra teach at my clinic?
Yes. The private format brings her to you, for you alone or your whole team. Rates and conditions are agreed case by case.
Is this a buccal massage course?
Yes — the intraoral portion of Tension Release Massage™ is buccal massage, worked from inside the mouth along the full length of the facial muscles.
Is this a face lift massage or sculptural massage course?
Yes — the external technique is a sculptural, lifting facial massage; combined with the intraoral work, it forms the complete Tension Release Massage™ method.
Is this a TMJ massage course?
Yes — the method was developed specifically to address TMJ, jaw tension, and teeth grinding, alongside migraines and tension headaches.
How does the online examination work?
From the date of purchase you have one year to complete and study the lessons, PDFs and videos. To earn your Tension Release™ certification you complete the training and pass all the quizzes online, practise on enough different people to perform confidently before the examiner, then click the link provided to tell us you are ready and choose an examination date and time that suits you.
On the day: invite a client to perform the examination on, set up the camera with good lighting so we can see you perform the routine — ideally from above the client's face, using a ring light or tripod — and connect to the examination call via the link from Your Skin By A™ Academy.
The whole process is recorded and you receive an evaluation 5–10 business days afterwards: either you have passed, or you receive feedback on what to work on.
What if I need a re-examination?
Don't worry — if you receive feedback on things to improve, you go back and practise, then contact us again to book a re-examination. Set up as before: a client to work on, good lighting, camera ideally above the client's face, and connect via the link from Your Skin By A™ Academy. You only perform the segments that needed more practice. Note that the training materials are available to you for one year after purchase.
